After a disastrous debut season that saw Manchester United finish 15th in the Premier League, Ruben Amorim isn’t backing down. Speaking to the BBC, the Portuguese manager made a bold declaration: “I want to stay 20 years at Manchester United. That’s my goal—I truly believe in it.”
The former Sporting CP coach, who knows what it’s like to silence critics, added: “At Sporting, people said I’d be fired within three months. I ended up as champion. I love challenges.”
Amorim is fully aware he’s “used up all his credit” after his rough start, but insists he’s ready for a fresh beginning. Still, the pressure at Old Trafford is on a different level—and the upcoming season will be do-or-die for the 39-year-old.
United fans may be dreaming of a new Sir Alex, but Amorim will need results—and fast.
