According to Cadena SER, the Saudi Pro League has given up on making a mega offer for Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior (25 years old, 58 games, 22 goals in 2024–25).
The numbers were staggering—€300 million for Madrid and €200 million per year in wages for the player—but the transfer saga is officially off the table this summer.
Strategic Timing Ahead of the 2026 World Cup
Saudi interest cooled largely due to the proximity of the 2026 World Cup. Top players like Vinicius want to stay in Europe’s elite competitions to maintain peak performance ahead of the tournament.
For its part, Real Madrid never considered selling. Under contract until 2027, Vinicius remains a central figure in Florentino Pérez’s project alongside Bellingham and Mbappé.
No Extension Yet, But No Crisis
Despite the stability, Vinicius has yet to open talks for a new deal, as Real Madrid looks to contain rising wages across the squad. Meanwhile, Saudi clubs haven’t given up entirely—they’re reportedly planning a new approach after the 2026 World Cup.
