Things have gone from bad to worse between Marc-André ter Stegen and FC Barcelona. The club has taken strong disciplinary action by temporarily removing the captain’s armband from the German goalkeeper amid growing internal tensions.

In response, the club released an official statement on Wednesday: “FC Barcelona announces that, following the opening of disciplinary proceedings against player Marc-André ter Stegen, and until those proceedings are definitively resolved, the Club […] has decided to temporarily remove the captaincy from the first-team player.”
