Robert Lewandowski (36, 157 caps, 84 goals) looks ready to pull on the Poland shirt again.
The Barcelona striker had stepped away from international duty in June after a clash with former coach Michal Probierz over the captaincy. But with Probierz now out of the picture, Lewandowski is open to a return — something new boss Jan Urban has confirmed.
“I spoke to him on the phone and asked if he wanted to come back. He said yes — that’s already a step forward,” Urban revealed to Polish radio RMF FM.
On the captaincy debate, he added: “It’s not something I want to discuss only with Robert, but also with the rest of the squad. (…) The final decision will be mine, but I want to hear the players’ views.”
Lewandowski’s comeback could happen as early as September, when Poland face the Netherlands and Finland in their 2026 World Cup qualifying campaign.
