Barcelona fans will have to wait longer to see their team back at Camp Nou. Hopes of reopening on September 14 against Valencia have been dashed as the club failed to obtain the final construction certificate, forcing the Blaugrana to extend their exile.
Barça even asked UEFA to play its opening Champions League matches away from home, a request that was accepted. For now, Montjuïc will remain their base “for a few more months,” confirmed a deputy mayor on RAC 1. To make matters worse, the Valencia clash is complicated by a Post Malone concert scheduled the night before at the Olympic Stadium.
Alternative venues such as Montjuïc, Montilivi (Girona), or even Mestalla (Valencia) have been floated, but the dream of a swift return to a fully renovated, cash-generating Camp Nou is slipping further away.
Real Madrid spends 15 millions for NFL
Meanwhile, Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu is already operational but facing its own transformation. The club is preparing to host its first-ever NFL game, an operation costing €15M.
Adjusted stands, revamped VIP areas, and improved acoustics will make the Bernabéu NFL-ready — a massive step that boosts the club’s global image and aligns with Javier Tebas’s vision of building a bridge between Spain and the U.S.
