Francesco Acerbi has opened up about Inter Milan’s Champions League final defeat to Paris Saint-Germain on May 31 in Munich. The Italian defender didn’t hold back in acknowledging the superiority of the Parisians.
PSG lit up Europe on that night, delivering a historic 5-0 thrashing that will be remembered by both fans and players alike. Acerbi revealed that many Inter players are still haunted by the loss, saying, “It was tough against that PSG.”
“We made it to the final, but it didn’t end as we had hoped. We really played against PSG, but it wasn’t enough. They were sharper, more precise, and simply better than us,” Acerbi shared, as reported by TuttoMercatoWeb.
“We Really Played Against PSG”
Despite the disappointment, the veteran defender takes immense pride in Inter’s journey. “The season was long and exhausting, filled with battles. In football, like life, you don’t always win. But reaching the Champions League final twice in three years with this jersey is a pride no one can take away from me,” he added.
Acerbi’s comments serve as an indirect tribute to PSG, who claimed their first European title. He emphasized that this Inter squad gave their all but ultimately faced a stronger opponent.
