Real Madrid. After Endrick, Dark Days for Mastantuono

Real Madrid has just come out of an intense and perfectly managed week. Two big matches, two victories, including a Clasico where Xabi Alonso finally seemed to find his winning formula with four midfielders and the duo of Mbappé/Vinicius.

Things are moving quickly at Real Madrid! Endrick is being pushed out, and now it’s difficult for another former future star of the club. Franco Mastantuono has hit a brutal halt. The 18-year-old Argentine, a sensation at the start of the season, had already accumulated eight starts.

Xabi Alonso was full of praise, claiming to love his qualities, personality, and especially his competitive spirit.

But reality hit him hard in just one week. Against Juventus, he played only six minutes. Against Barcelona, he didn’t play a single second and didn’t even make his debut in the Clasico. Brahim has overtaken him in the rotation and has become the first choice on the right side.

Overtaken by Brahim…

The system used against Barça didn’t help matters. Bellingham and Camavinga occupied the right flank in the offensive phase. When Carvajal and Trent return, Valverde will also be expected to occupy that area. Therefore, the space for Mastantuono is considerably shrinking.

His week has been complicated and reminds him how fierce the competition is at Real Madrid. The bar is set high. Progress will not be linear. But nothing is lost.

This is just the first major setback for a young talent who has been launched very quickly. But Xabi Alonso is not giving any favors. If Mastantuono does not pull himself together, it will be the end of the line…
