Injured in the thigh at the beginning of October, 32-year-old midfielder Paul Pogba sees his comeback becoming clearer. Sébastien Pocognoli confirmed this in front of the press.
Paul Pogba’s return to Monaco is finally getting closer… it’s certain this time. The AS Monaco coach believes that Pogba is now closer to a return than Zakaria. Each training session brings positive responses, and the Belgian expects to see him back in the group “in the short term.”
“I said that this week would serve to answer some questions, and each day is part of this process. So far, it’s going well, and I expect to see him back in the group in the short term. Upon his return, we will need to establish a process together to assess him based on the player he is now,” he said.
However, Pocognoli calls for clarity. He warns that Pogba should be judged as he is today. The player from Manchester United and the first Juventus belongs to the past. Age, experiences, and injuries have changed his profile, but not his technique. The rhythm of matches will provide the first real indications.
The coach wants to extract the best possible version of the world champion. He promises a collective effort to put Pogba in the best conditions and to exploit all his potential.
“He can be the best version of himself at AS Monaco; it will be my role to ensure he moves in that direction to try to stimulate all his qualities and what he has as potential. It’s the same for every player, but it’s different for him. I hope to bring out the maximum of what he has to offer us,” said the new coach of Monaco.
Paul Pogba has been absent from the pitch for over two years. His last match was on September 3, 2023, after his suspension for doping. The moment is approaching, and everyone wants to see what Pogba still has to offer.
