Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry have influence. World and European champions, the two icons of the field are now coaches… and they have encouraged Tony Parker to do the same.
Like Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry, Tony Parker has also decided to embark on a coaching career. At 43 years old, the former Spurs point guard, now an entrepreneur and club president, has started training… and has already been appointed head coach of the France U17 team.
“I am happy to start my coaching career with the France team. For me, it is a whole symbol,” said the former San Antonio Spurs playmaker, a four-time NBA champion, to L’Equipe. Entrepreneur, athlete, celebrity… Tony Parker is changing hats once again.
The Key Role of Henry and Zidane
Parker reveals that Zidane and Henry played a key role in this decision. “They talked to me about their passion and the desire to pass on knowledge,” he explains. Inspired by their discussions, the four-time NBA champion now wants to give back to French basketball what the sport has given him.
