Kylian Mbappé has done it again. And not just a little. With a sensational four-goal performance in Real Madrid’s dramatic 4,3 win over Olympiakos, the Frenchman delivered a night that will go down in Champions League history.
He silenced the critics and lit up Europe, but beyond the masterclass, Mbappé also made sure his voice was heard. Under fire in recent days, the 26-year-old answered first on the pitch… then in front of the cameras.
“We have to protect each other”, Mbappé sets the tone
After the game, Mbappé called for unity in the Madrid camp amid surrounding noise. “When you play for Real, of course people talk. But we, players, staff, coach, have to stay united,” he told Movistar. Message received: enough with the drama, time to stick together.
A lightning hat-trick, just 30 seconds off Salah’s record
His hat-trick in 6 minutes and 42 seconds sent the stats into orbit. Only Salah has done better in Champions League history, 6’12” with Liverpool against Rangers in 2022. Mbappé now moves ahead of Gomis, 8’45” in 2016. One stat that sums up the night: unreal.
“Dependence?”, Mbappé shuts it down
Asked about a supposed “Mbappé dependency”, the striker brushed it aside: “That’s a term for you. I score, yes, but without the others we wouldn’t win.” A pointed reminder that Real is a collective, even if he’s often the spark.
