Luis Enrique was furious with Lucas Hernandez’s outburst at the end of the match against Tottenham. Brought on at halftime to replace Nuno Mendes, the defender had been performing well up to that point.
But everything collapsed when he deliberately elbowed Xavi Simons in the face, even though PSG were calmly leading 5–3 and fully in control. VAR had no trouble confirming the red card.
Having already committed a similar act during the Club World Cup, Lucas Hernandez is starting to seriously worry his coach. “It’s not the first time. It’s strange, it’s not normal. We’ll have to talk about it. It’s dangerous. I know Lucas very well, but he has to learn to control himself,” Luis Enrique told Canal+.
PSG left without a left-back
The red card also creates a practical problem for the manager. PSG will already be without Nuno Mendes for the upcoming matches, and now his backup, Lucas Hernandez, is likely to be suspended for at least two games.
The French defender will have to put an end to this bad habit, or he could end up causing serious problems for the club.
