Donald Trump received on Friday in Washington the brand-new FIFA Peace Prize during the draw ceremony for the 2026 World Cup.
No Nobel Peace Prize for Donald Trump, but he can console himself with another award: he has won the FIFA Peace Prize. FIFA says it wants to reward those who “unite people and bring hope,” and its president Gianni Infantino praised Trump’s actions, assuring he “deserved” this first-ever distinction, which will become an annual award.
Trump called the prize “one of the greatest honors” of his life, claiming that the United States has helped save thousands of lives and prevent several conflicts.
A “safer” world than ever, according to Trump
He also stated that “the world is safer than ever” and that the country is “back.”
Meanwhile, on the sporting side, the draw involved the 42 teams already qualified, while six playoff winners will join them in March, bringing the total to 48 nations for a World Cup for the first time.
