Courted by PSG in recent weeks, Eric Garcia has ultimately decided to close the door on a move to Paris. The 24yearold Spanish defender has officially extended his contract with FC Barcelona until 2031, ending Paris’s hopes of signing him on a free transfer next summer.
Touted as a serious target for the Parisian club, Garcia chose stability in Catalonia, where HansDieter Flick sees him as an undisputed starter. His extension is viewed as a genuine reward after a solid season, marked by 15 matches and one goal in La Liga.
PSG was looking for Hakimi’s backup
PSG had been closely monitoring the situation, but Barcelona moved quickly and decisively to secure their defender. Eric Garcia therefore remains a blaugrana, and Paris will have to look elsewhere for a quality backup for Achraf Hakimi.
