PSG did not take long to put out the fire. In just a few hours, a completely unfounded rumor set X ablaze, claiming that Luis Enrique had refused to extend his contract with Paris, supposedly based on an article by Bild. Major problem: that article never existed.
“Luis Enrique turns down PSG’s extension offer!” Or not… After checking, no German outlet called Bild published any such information. The rumor was born from a few social media accounts, before being endlessly relayed and turned into “news” without a single solid source.
A rumor quickly debunked by the club
Faced with how big the noise became, PSG reacted quickly. Luis Campos, the club’s sporting advisor, could not have been clearer to Oliver Tallaron (Canal+): “100% fake news.” A blunt response, without the slightest ambiguity.
Contrary to what circulated, there is therefore neither a refusal to extend from Luis Enrique nor the start of any saga. The Parisian club, on the contrary, wants to extend its coach, who is currently under contract until 2027, and still considers him the cornerstone of its sporting project.
Once again, this episode shows how fast false information can spread… and how necessary it is to deny it just as quickly.
