David Beckham and his wife Victoria are at the center of criticism… from their own son. But the former Manchester United player does not intend to let it slide. An open war has broken out within the Beckham family. The eldest son, Brooklyn, accuses his parents of living only for their public image and has published a long message in which he details everything.
In reality, this has been going on for more than a year. Brooklyn had skipped his father’s 50th birthday in May, and no member of the Beckham family had been invited to the renewal of vows with his wife, Nicola Peltz. In recent weeks, he is even said to have blocked his family on social media and now communicates with them only through his lawyers.
A Family Conflict Played Out in Public
On Monday, January 19, Brooklyn Beckham published a long message on his Instagram story to “set his truth straight.” He claims he does not want to reconcile with his family and accuses his parents of trying to sabotage his marriage. He particularly points the finger at his mother, Victoria Beckham, whom he accuses of humiliating him on his wedding day by stealing his first dance with his wife and behaving inappropriately.
He also says that he wanted to attend his father’s 50th birthday and had traveled to London, but that David Beckham had refused Nicola Peltz’s presence.
The day after these explosive statements, David Beckham reacted for the first time, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, in an interview with CNBC relayed by The Sun.
Without directly mentioning the conflict with his son, the former footballer gave a very general speech about social media and education, recalling their power “for better and for worse” and explaining that he had always tried to teach his children how to use them properly. He concluded by saying that children have the right to make mistakes and that this is how they learn: “Sometimes you have to let them make those mistakes too.”
