FC Barcelona are not completely closing the door on Robert Lewandowski, but only under very strict conditions. According to Sport, the club’s leaders are open to the idea of keeping the Polish striker—provided he agrees to a serious downgrade.
The first requirement is clear: Lewandowski would have to accept a much less central role in the team, with fewer minutes and a lower status in the attacking hierarchy. The days of being the undisputed starter and the number one star up front would be over.
A Drastic Salary Cut and a Reduced Role
The second condition is just as significant: a massive pay cut. Barça want the former Bayern Munich goal scorer to accept a 50% reduction in his salary in order to stay at the club.
It is a clear message from the Catalan board, which is looking to reduce its wage bill and prepare for the future. The question now is whether Lewandowski, still highly ambitious on a sporting level, will be ready to make these sacrifices to continue his journey in Catalonia.
