Untouchable… or almost. The linchpin of Toulouse’s defense and one of the revelations of the season, Charlie Cresswell is setting the market alight. Despite a new huge bid from Wolfsburg, TFC have slammed the door shut and set a completely prohibitive price.
It didn’t take long for Charlie Cresswell to establish himself as the undisputed boss of TFC’s back line. An automatic starter in Ligue 1, never rotated this season, scoring three goals and providing an assist, the England U21 European champion has become one of the league’s most valuable defenders.
€30m or Nothing: Toulouse Draws the Line
Wolfsburg have understood that well and have been trying their luck for several weeks: €18 million, then €20 million, and now nearly €23 million. Each time, the same answer in Toulouse: no. According to The Athletic, TFC will not even open talks for anything under €30 million.
And the Germans are not alone. West Ham are still monitoring the situation after a first failed attempt last summer. At 23, with 53 matches for Toulouse, Cresswell is now a major asset for the club. The message is clear: to prise him away this winter, it will take a very big check.
