The organization behind the project, A22 Sports Management, had made repeated attempts to gain recognition for its model, notably by seeking bridges with existing competitions and the new Champions League format. However, these proposals were not approved by European governing bodies.

After Juventus left in 2023 and now Barcelona’s exit, Real Madrid remains the only major club still publicly committed to the Super League project. President Florentino Pérez now stands alone on the front line, while the European Club Association, chaired by Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, handles most institutional dialogue with UEFA.
