Florian Thauvin is not hiding his international ambitions. The French winger says that the World Cup remains a major personal target as long as he is still playing at the highest level, with an undiminished attachment to the national team shirt.
Thauvin still hopes to take part in the 2026 World Cup. Speaking to beIN Sports, the player was clear about his motivation: “As long as I’m on the pitch, the World Cup will be an objective for me.” He also stressed how special the national team is in his career: “I love the France team above all else — it’s the Holy Grail.”
Club Performance Remains the Key to Selection
Clear-eyed about the demands of elite competition, Thauvin nevertheless pointed out that everything depends on his club performances first: “Before anything else, it comes down to performances and leadership on the field — it’s daily work.”
He refuses to look too far ahead toward the final squad list: “There’s still quite a bit of time before the list is announced. I’m working, giving my maximum, and then we’ll see what happens.”
