Fabrizio Ravanelli is preparing to definitively turn the page with Olympique de Marseille. Still officially under contract, the former Italian striker is expected to be dismissed in the coming days, according to information from La Provence.
Major changes are taking place within OM’s organizational structure. After the departure of Roberto De Zerbi and his staff, as well as president Pablo Longoria, Fabrizio Ravanelli is also set to step aside.
Ravanelli pushed out as Marseille reshapes leadership
The Italian returned to the club in 2024 in a role as institutional and sporting advisor to president Pablo Longoria, but he had no longer been part of the management’s plans for several months.
The regional daily specifies that Ravanelli had already been sidelined since last spring. Internally, Pablo Longoria no longer considered him a key figure in Marseille’s organizational structure. Meanwhile, football director Medhi Benatia believed the Italian held too prominent a position within the club, particularly criticizing his closeness to the first team. The recent turmoil has therefore changed nothing — Fabrizio Ravanelli is being shown the door.
