Just a few months before the World Cup, the French squad is starting to take shape, and certainties are emerging. According to the latest trends, nearly 95% of the group has already been identified, with a solid core leaving very little room for last-minute surprises. One key question remains: who will be left out?

In goal, Mike Maignan stands as the undisputed number one, supported by Brice Samba. The third spot is still up for grabs, with Lucas Chevalier currently favored but not yet guaranteed to make the trip.

A Nearly Finalized Squad with Intense Competition

In defense, the hierarchy appears settled. The central pairing of William Saliba, Ibrahima Konaté, Dayot Upamecano, and Lucas Hernandez offers strong reliability. On the flanks, Jules Koundé and Malo Gusto on the right, along with Lucas Digne and Theo Hernandez on the left, seem to have locked down their positions.

Midfield boasts impressive depth. Aurélien Tchouaméni, Eduardo Camavinga, and N’Golo Kanté are leading candidates, as is Adrien Rabiot. Behind them, competition is fierce, with players like Youssouf Fofana and Khéphren Thuram currently struggling to secure their place.

Up front, the attacking power is striking. Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Bradley Barcola represent strong certainties, while the new generation—Michael Olise, Désiré Doué, and Rayan Cherki—is pushing hard. However, not all of them will make the final list. The battle for the last spots is intense: Marcus Thuram seems to have gained an edge thanks to recent performances and his influence in the locker room, while Randal Kolo Muani and Maghnes Akliouche are under serious threat due to a lack of consistency. The trend is clear: unless there is a surprise, several regulars could be left behind in one of the most competitive selections in recent years.
