FC Barcelona is refining its strategy for the upcoming summer transfer window. While the top priority remains the recruitment of a center-forward, the Catalan club is also exploring several secondary options to anticipate potential departures and strengthen squad depth.
Barcelona will not remain inactive during the next transfer window. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the club is focused on finding smart deals — the cheaper, the better. In attack, Julián Álvarez stands out as the absolute priority. His well-rounded profile, age, and marketing potential are highly valued internally.
Additional Targets Across Key Positions
In defense, Barcelona is also targeting a left-footed center-back, with Alessandro Bastoni at the top of the list. Beyond these priorities, other areas are being addressed, particularly on the wings, where Marcus Rashford’s future remains uncertain despite a purchase option estimated at €30 million.
To prepare for this sector, the club is monitoring promising young talents. This includes Jan Virgili, a former La Masia player now at Mallorca, of whom Barcelona still owns 40% of the rights. Another closely followed option is Andreas Schjelderup, who is progressing well at Benfica and has already delivered strong performances in the Champions League. Both are attractive solutions, especially due to their more affordable wages under financial fair play constraints.
The work does not stop there. On the flanks of the defense, Barcelona is looking for a full-back capable of playing on both sides. Andrea Cambiaso is highly appreciated, particularly as an alternative to João Cancelo, whose situation remains uncertain. In a different profile, Alejandro Grimaldo is also an interesting option, notably because of his contract situation. Finally, the goalkeeper position could also see changes. If Wojciech Szczęsny departs, Barcelona is keeping a close eye on Álex Remiro as a market opportunity, with the idea of forming a solid partnership with Joan Garcia to secure the future in that role.
