Xavi Simons had hoped for a return to FC Barcelona, but the door now appears firmly closed. Struggling at Tottenham, where he is enduring a difficult season, the Dutch attacking midfielder sees his future growing increasingly uncertain.
The 22-year-old will not be heading back to Barcelona. After arriving at Spurs with high expectations following his spell at Paris Saint-Germain, Simons has failed to establish himself. His team is battling relegation, and his performances have fallen short despite promising stints at PSV Eindhoven and RB Leipzig.
Barcelona Focuses on Youth Development Strategy
Faced with this situation, Simons dreams of a comeback to Catalonia, seven years after leaving for Paris. However, Barcelona does not share this interest and has not initiated any discussions regarding his return.
The Blaugrana club remains committed to its youth-focused policy and emerging talents. Bringing Simons back would send a contradictory message to this strategy, not to mention the high cost of a potential transfer.
As a result, despite his desire, the former La Masia product is not part of Barcelona’s plans and will need to explore other options to revive his career.
