Christophe Galtier has not given up on his dream of managing Olympique de Marseille… but timing remains an obstacle. The club has just appointed Habib Beye as head coach.
The connection between Christophe Galtier and Olympique de Marseille remains strong. A native of Marseille and former player for the club, the current Neom manager continues to nurture this ambition: one day leading OM.
A Dream Still Alive Despite Missed Opportunities
In an interview with Le Figaro, the coach holds nothing back. “Of course it’s a dream,” he admits, while recalling that the opportunity has already arisen… without ever materializing.
After his stint at Paris Saint-Germain, Galtier was indeed approached by Marseille. But personal circumstances, particularly his legal issues at the time, led him to decline. “I preferred to say no and be honest,” he explains, acknowledging a difficult but deliberate decision.
Turning down OM was not easy, but Galtier points to a matter of timing. Even now, he leaves the door slightly open without making any promises: “Will it come up again? I don’t know.” Meanwhile, Marseille is committed to Habib Beye until 2027, though in football, paths often cross again—especially when a dream remains unfinished.
