Paris Saint-Germain is making an impact… even on former rivals. During an Instagram live session with rapper Rohff, Karim Benzema did not hide his admiration for the current level of the Parisian club.
Now playing for Al Hilal, Benzema was once a fierce opponent of PSG during his time at Lyon. But that hasn’t stopped him from appreciating this version of Paris under Luis Enrique. The former French international was particularly struck by the team’s collective strength, especially the depth of the bench: “At PSG, what’s great is that when you make substitutions, the players coming on bring even more. And they’re supposedly the backups.” A rare observation at this level, highlighting the squad’s depth and full commitment.
A Collective Strength That Sets PSG Apart
For Benzema, the difference is clear: at Paris, everyone knows their role perfectly. “The starter knows what he has to do, and so does the substitute. The guy on the bench doesn’t sulk.” A mindset he considers essential to the club’s current success.
“PSG is not a team of stars.” Comparing it to Real Madrid, where he achieved everything, Benzema points out a major difference: “At Madrid, it’s complicated because it doesn’t really play as a team.” In contrast, he sees PSG as a perfectly well-oiled unit.
He also emphasizes an unexpected strength: “PSG is not a team of stars… they press, defend, attack, run.” Even Ousmane Dembélé, often seen as a headline player, does not disrupt this collective dynamic. Finally, Benzema sums it up in a powerful statement: “The most well-known figure at PSG is Luis Enrique. But it’s a real team.” A remark that speaks volumes about the transformation of the Parisian club, now recognized more for its collective power than its individual talent.
