Paris Saint-Germain is no longer really on the move. Quite the opposite, in fact. That is the message delivered by the new mayor of Paris, Emmanuel Grégoire.
He is standing firm. The mayor is extremely confident about the club’s future at the Parc des Princes: according to him, there is a “99.9% chance” that PSG will remain there.
Renewed talks strengthen PSG’s future in Paris
“I would say there is a 99.9% chance that PSG stays at the Parc des Princes,” he announced on RMC. “We have first restored dialogue. I won’t go into the details of the discussions, out of courtesy and respect for the shareholder. I simply want to send a message of confidence. We are back on very solid ground in our talks. (…) Are we considering a sale? Yes. It’s an option I wanted to put on the table. I moved early to involve the Paris council to reassure the shareholder.”
After years of tension under Anne Hidalgo, dialogue between the city and PSG’s leadership has been fully revived. Even more notably, the sale of the stadium is now clearly being considered, an option pushed by the new mayor to reassure the club’s ownership. PSG could then invest in expanding the Parc des Princes to around 60,000 seats, including redeveloping the forecourt currently occupied by parking lots and a sports club.
The message is clear: Paris and PSG are moving forward together, and the idea of relocation is fading fast. For their part, PSG insists that alternative sites in Massy and Poissy remain under consideration, with significant investment in research and development. The answer will come in the coming months…
