According to L’Équipe, Hugo Lloris has not completely ruled out the idea of coming out of international retirement to rejoin the France national football team. But not as number one.
An unexpected return, but far from certain. What if Hugo Lloris came back for a short stint at the World Cup? The former France captain, now in great form with Los Angeles FC, would reportedly be ready to accept a number three role at the next World Cup in order to bring his experience to the new generation.
A Goalkeeping Situation Raising Concerns
Lucas Chevalier’s situation is indeed causing concern within the France setup. He has not played since January with PSG. Relegated to number three, he could therefore miss the World Cup.
For now, this scenario remains highly hypothetical. Around Didier Deschamps, it is stressed that such a return “is not currently on the agenda.” No concrete move has been made so far, and the idea of a Lloris comeback is more of an open possibility than a genuine project in progress. But as we know, Deschamps always has a surprise in store for his squad selections.
