Olympique de Marseille are already preparing for a major internal overhaul after a disastrous season marked by a sporting crisis and a completely chaotic dressing room. According to Foot Mercato, the Marseille club have identified their future sporting director.
Medhi Benatia will no longer be the club’s sporting director in the coming weeks. After a turbulent campaign ending in disappointment, the man in charge of football operations is also expected to leave. Following Roberto De Zerbi, Pablo Longoria and soon Habib Beye, another major departure is on the way.
Marseille Ready for Major Rebuild
Unless there is a dramatic late twist, Grégory Lorenzi is expected to join Marseille in the coming weeks. The former Brest sporting director, who was also being pursued by Nice, has reportedly chosen the OM project.
Highly regarded for his work in Brittany, Lorenzi would arrive alongside his brother Yannick in an attempt to rebuild an OM side deep in crisis following recent incidents at La Commanderie and the likely absence of European football next season.
Still according to Foot Mercato, a verbal agreement already exists between all parties involved, with only a few administrative details left to finalize.
