Bayern Munich officially confirmed a huge double deal this Friday. Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich have both extended their contracts until June 2027!
At 40 years old, Neuer is now set for a sixteenth season in Bavaria after returning to an excellent level despite the major injuries he has suffered over the past few years.
Neuer Dreams of a Stunning World Cup Comeback
CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen also did not hide his admiration: “People will still be talking for many years about this goalkeeper, this captain and this personality.”
But that is not all. Even though he retired from international football two years ago, Manuel Neuer could ultimately return with Germany for the 2026 World Cup! The Bayern goalkeeper is reportedly part of Julian Nagelsmann’s extended preliminary squad, and his chances of making the tournament are becoming increasingly serious.
Vincent Kompany has also completely opened the door to such a comeback. “I do not want to interfere in the squad selections of countries going to the World Cup,” explained the Belgian coach before adding: “But I appreciate my players.” In other words, Bayern will not oppose a return of Neuer with the German national team. A scenario that would have seemed completely impossible just a few months ago.
