Olympique de Marseille officially announced the departure of Medhi Benatia this Saturday. Arriving at the end of 2023 as a sporting advisor before being promoted to football director at the start of 2025, the former Moroccan international will officially leave his position on May 18.

It comes as no real surprise, but OM have now confirmed Medhi Benatia’s exit. In their statement, Marseille praised the work carried out by Benatia during his time at the club. The club notably highlighted the second-place Ligue 1 finish during the 2024-2025 season, his work during transfer windows, and the restructuring of the academy.

I would like to thank Frank McCourt for the trust he always placed in me without hesitation. That bond will stay in my memory forever. I wish Olympique de Marseille the success it deserves. This club, this city, these supporters fully deserve it,” explained the Moroccan executive.
