As expected, Florentino Pérez has been re-elected as Real Madrid president for another four-year term. The Madrid chief comfortably defeated his only challenger, Enrique Riquelme, securing 65% of the vote compared to 35%.
There was never much doubt about the outcome, but Enrique Riquelme kept the pressure on until the very end. The final week of the campaign was packed with ambitious promises, including star signings, major transfers, and a fresh direction for the club. In the end, however, Pérez emerged victorious once again.
Mourinho Returns to Real Madrid
Nearly 33,500 club members took part in the election, representing a turnout of 48%. Pérez won all 60 voting tables, a result he described as the “second-best in history” after his performance in the 2004 election.
Following his victory, the Real Madrid president pledged to continue expanding the club’s trophy collection. He also praised the unity of the members and defended a vision of an independent, forward-looking Real Madrid.
The biggest announcement of the evening, however, concerned the dugout. Florentino Pérez officially confirmed the return of José Mourinho, describing him as “one of the best coaches in the world” and a true Madridista. The decision marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Spanish giants.
