Freshly re-elected as Real Madrid president on Sunday, Florentino Pérez wasted no time making a major statement. According to RMC Sport, Ibrahima Konaté officially signed his contract with Los Blancos on Monday.
Pérez has delivered on one of his campaign promises. Just days after securing another term at the helm of the club, the Real Madrid president confirmed the arrival of the French defender.
Konaté Joins Real Madrid on a Free Transfer
With his Liverpool contract set to expire on June 30, the 27-year-old France international will move to Spain as a free agent. It is a huge coup for Real Madrid, who secure one of the Premier League’s top central defenders without paying a transfer fee.
Promised by Pérez during his election campaign, Konaté has signed a four-year contract and will now be tied to the Spanish giants until June 2030. It marks the first major signing of the newly re-elected president’s latest project.
The move strengthens Real Madrid’s defensive options and signals the club’s ambition to remain at the top of European football in the years ahead.
