Freshly re-elected as Real Madrid president, Florentino Pérez is preparing to launch his new sporting project. The first major announcement could arrive very soon with the return of José Mourinho to the Madrid dugout.
According to AS, an agreement between the two parties has been finalized for several weeks, and the official announcement is now said to be imminent. The Portuguese coach is expected to sign a two-year contract with an option for an additional season.
Mourinho’s Expensive Return to Madrid
However, this comeback comes at a significant cost. To release Mourinho from his contract with Benfica, Real Madrid would reportedly have to pay close to €15 million to the Portuguese club. The sizeable fee highlights the confidence placed in the “Special One.”
Mourinho, who previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, would return with a clear objective: bringing the Champions League trophy back to the Spanish giants.
According to the Spanish press, Mourinho is already working on the club’s summer transfer plans. Reinforcements are expected in both defense and midfield as Real aim to quickly revive their European ambitions.
