Ronaldinho Signs in Serie C: An Incredible Return to Italy!

The news quickly spread across social media: Ronaldinho has signed with Ravenna in Italy’s Serie C at the age of 46. With a presentation reportedly planned in Miami, a new shirt and an R10 logo, some fans believed they were witnessing the most unlikely comeback of the year.

Is Ronaldinho really about to return to the pitch? At almost 50, it sounds crazy. The buzz was real, but the reality appears far less spectacular. According to Ariedo Braida, former AC Milan executive and now honorary vice-president of Ravenna, the 2005 Ballon d’Or winner is not expected to return to league action.

Ronaldinho Set for Ambassador Role at Ravenna

“He is a magical player, he will have his licence, it is a major coup for us. Will he play at 46? It depends, but let’s say he will have his licence,” Braida told LaPresse. “A champion like him is in a category of his own and has no age,” he added, in comments reported by Ansa.

The move appears to be mainly a marketing operation. Ronaldinho is expected to take part in events, communication campaigns and promotional activities to boost the profile of the Italian club.

Ravenna is deliberately keeping the details of the agreement mysterious, but everything suggests the Brazilian legend will act more as an ambassador than as a player. Enough to make fans dream for a few hours, even if a true competitive comeback now seems highly unlikely.
