Brazil welcomed back its iconic number 10. Absent from the national team since October 2023, Neymar made his long-awaited return for the Seleção on Thursday during Brazil’s 3-0 victory over Scotland at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Neymar was back on the World Cup stage. Introduced for the final 15 minutes, the 34-year-old forward experienced an emotional moment after a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injuries.

Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti also praised Neymar’s dedication during his recovery. “Neymar had the opportunity to play because he deserved it. He worked very seriously and trained hard to recover, showing great professionalism.

With the quality he has, he can help the team in this World Cup. In the few minutes he played, he performed well,” said the Italian manager, hinting that Neymar could have a bigger role when Brazil begin their Round of 16 campaign on Monday.
