Olympique de Marseille’s hearing before the DNCG continues to generate discussion. After reports claimed that future club president Stéphane Richard arrived 20 minutes late, Marseille has now provided its own version of what happened.
The truth behind Stéphane Richard’s late arrival at the DNCG has now emerged, and the club insists he was not at fault. According to La Provence, the executive did indeed reach the French Professional Football League headquarters behind schedule, but the delay was caused entirely by heavy traffic in Paris.
Marseille Explains the DNCG Delay
Richard had been in Marseille the previous evening for a dinner near Notre-Dame de la Garde before catching a flight to Paris on Tuesday morning. However, after landing, he became stuck in exceptionally heavy congestion while leaving the airport, preventing him from arriving on time.
Marseille is now seeking to ease the controversy surrounding the incident. Despite the unfortunate delay, the club’s main priority remains convincing the DNCG during its next hearing with what is expected to be a more comprehensive financial dossier, as it looks to address ongoing concerns over its financial situation.
