France are not done with extreme weather conditions yet. After already being disrupted by thunderstorms, heavy rain and even tornado alerts during this 2026 World Cup, Les Bleus will now have to deal with a completely different opponent: the heat.
This Tuesday evening, against Sweden in the round of 32, Didier Deschamps’ players will play in around 30-degree temperatures at MetLife Stadium. That is already a heavy setting for a knockout match, especially with the physical intensity expected and a place in the last 16 at stake.
Extreme Heat Could Hit France Next
And this may only be the beginning. According to L’Équipe, if France qualify for the last 16, Les Bleus could face a real heatwave on Saturday, with temperatures expected to reach around 39 degrees and a feels-like temperature potentially climbing to 42 degrees.
That would put recovery, hydration and effort management at the heart of France’s preparation. In a tournament already marked by very difficult weather conditions at times, the French staff will once again have to adapt.
After weather-related interruptions, crushing heat may now take over. To go far in this World Cup, France will have to beat their opponents, but also survive the unpredictability of the American weather.
