Olympique de Marseille unveiled its new away shirt, but the presentation did not go exactly as planned. In the visuals published by the club and Puma, a model chosen to showcase the Marseille kit was seen with a very noticeable tattoo on his arm: the word “Paris”.
OM slipped up with its new shirt, and one detail drove supporters crazy: the model had a Paris tattoo. Inevitably, it did not go unnoticed. In a city where the rivalry with PSG remains one of the strongest symbols of the club’s identity, seeing the name of the capital displayed in an official OM campaign quickly sparked reactions on social media.
A Paris Tattoo That Angered OM Fans
The new OM away shirt, dark blue with light-blue shades, was supposed to highlight Marseille’s identity above all. But some fans only focused on one thing: the “Paris” tattoo visible on the model’s arm, seen as a huge communication mistake by the club.
Faced with the criticism, Puma quickly corrected the issue. The kit manufacturer retouched the photos published on its platforms to remove the awkward inscription. It was a way to put out the fire before the controversy grew even bigger.

Still, the blunder had already spread widely. On OM’s official website, some images were still visible without retouching after the first reactions. A casting mistake that comes at a bad time for a shirt launch, especially in Marseille, where the word “Paris” never really goes unnoticed.
