A shocking image at the World Cup. During the round-of-32 clash between the Netherlands and Morocco, Jan Paul Van Hecke went through a scene straight out of a war film. After a heavy collision with Noussair Mazraoui, the Dutch defender suffered a cut to his head.

Jan Paul Van Hecke was badly shaken during the Netherlands-Morocco tie. His blond hair quickly turned red, while his face was left covered in blood. It was a striking, almost unreal sequence that immediately sparked reactions.

But Van Hecke did not back down. Treated on the touchline, the future Tottenham player gritted his teeth and returned to his position as if nothing had happened.
