Inter Milan are turning an important page. The Lombardy club officially announced this Tuesday the departures of Yann Sommer, Francesco Acerbi, Matteo Darmian and Stefan de Vrij, all of whom have reached the end of their contracts.

Four key players are leaving the club, marking the end of a cycle for the Nerazzurri. It’s a real squad clear-out for Inter Milan, who never truly recovered from their Champions League final defeat to PSG despite winning the Serie A title this season.

A major squad overhaul begins

Yann Sommer, 37, leaves Inter after another demanding season, with 43 appearances in all competitions. The Swiss goalkeeper will not continue his journey in Milan. Francesco Acerbi, 38, is also departing after making 26 appearances this season, while Matteo Darmian, 36, exits following a quieter campaign with just 9 matches played.

The most symbolic departure is undoubtedly Stefan de Vrij. Arriving in 2018, the Dutch defender leaves Inter after eight seasons in the Nerazzurri shirt. The club paid a strong tribute to him in its statement, also thanking Sommer, Acerbi and Darmian for their contribution to the club’s recent successes. With these four exits, Inter confirm a shift in cycle, paving the way for a transfer window that could significantly reshape the squad.
