The Zidane name is back in French football. A few years after Enzo Zidane, who had a spell at Rodez, it is now Elyaz Zidane who is set to discover the pitches of France. Zinédine Zidane’s youngest son has officially signed with Red Star.
Elyaz Zidane signs for Red Star, as another son of Zizou arrives in France. Aged 20, Elyaz Zidane joins the Paris-area club, which plays in Ligue 2. It is an important new step for the central defender, born in Marseille and trained at Real Madrid, where he spent many years in the youth ranks.
Elyaz Zidane Takes on a New Challenge in Ligue 2
Before this move to France, Elyaz Zidane was playing for Real Betis’ reserve team. He had joined the Spanish club in July 2024 with the aim of continuing his development after leaving Real Madrid.
Red Star, who finished fourth in the last Ligue 2 season, are therefore bringing in a player with a highly recognizable name, but also a young defender who is still looking for playing time and consistency in his career. For Elyaz Zidane, this signing also represents his first real experience in French football.
Despite being born in Marseille, he mainly developed as a footballer in Spain, in the demanding environment of Real Madrid. The challenge now will be to make his mark away from his father’s huge shadow. After Enzo at Rodez, another son of Zinédine Zidane will try to carve out a place for himself in France, and in Ligue 2, Elyaz Zidane will quickly have the chance to show that he can write his own story.
