Paul Pogba clearly has no intention of hanging up his boots just yet. A free agent since the end of his spell with AS Monaco, the 2018 World Cup winner continues to work towards finding a new club. And one possible destination is beginning to attract attention: MLS, where Antoine Griezmann has just sent him a very clear invitation.
Pogba is back in training. The 33-year-old French midfielder posted several pictures on Instagram showing himself working out at AS Monaco’s training centre. His presence may come as a surprise, as the player and the Principality club officially ended their partnership on August 19, even though his contract had initially been due to run until June 2027. However, relations between the two parties have remained good and, according to L’Équipe, Pogba is still allowed to use Monaco’s facilities as he works his way back to full fitness following his injury problems.
Griezmann tells Pogba: “Come to Orlando!”
His next challenge could now take him across the Atlantic. Under Pogba’s latest Instagram post, Antoine Griezmann left a message that quickly attracted attention: “Come to Orlando!” Griezmann joined Orlando City this summer, signing with the MLS franchise until the 2027-28 season with an option for an additional year. His start in the United States has been impressive, with eight goals in his first ten league appearances by mid-September.
The message could certainly give his former France teammate something to think about. For now, however, Griezmann’s comment remains a friendly invitation and there is no confirmation of any negotiations between Pogba and Orlando City. Pogba is nevertheless determined to relaunch his career after a difficult spell at Monaco that was repeatedly disrupted by injuries.
At 33, “La Pioche” is therefore still working towards a return to competitive football. It remains to be seen whether Griezmann’s invitation will remain nothing more than a joke between friends or whether the two 2018 World Cup winners could eventually be reunited in an Orlando City shirt.
