Things were looking good… but the move has stalled. Ansu Fati, Monaco’s top attacking target, might not land in the Principality just yet.
The Ligue 1 club had a deal in place with Barcelona for a loan with an option to buy — but negotiations have slowed down.
What’s the hold-up?
Monaco finally made a formal offer… and Barça said no. The Catalans want a full transfer, ideally with future clauses, and above all, to offload 100% of Fati’s salary. Monaco isn’t willing to cover the entire wage bill.
Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes, is trying to revive talks. The Spanish forward needs a fresh start after a rough season (11 games, 0 goals, 0 assists). Monaco are still in the race — but they’ll have to improve their offer.
