Florian Wirtz is officially a Liverpool player! The German playmaker joins the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in a massive deal worth €137.5 million (€117.5M + €20M in bonuses), making him the most expensive signing in Premier League history—surpassing Enzo Fernandez and Jack Grealish.
The 22-year-old sensation was long courted by Bayern Munich, but Liverpool’s financial firepower sealed the deal. Leverkusen stood firm on their €120M asking price, and the Reds met it. Wirtz leaves Germany with 57 goals and 65 assists in 197 appearances.
Bayern Admit Defeat
“Honestly, I don’t know if we could’ve paid what Liverpool are paying,” admitted Bayern sporting director Max Eberl. “Wirtz is a phenomenal player. We would’ve loved to sign him.”
