A return to Lyon to finish his career? Karim Benzema clearly cools the idea, at least as a player. As an executive? Well, why not!

Karim Benzema’s return to OL seems further away than ever. At 37, the Al Ittihad striker admitted to L’Équipe that playing again in a Lyon shirt would be “delicate.”

“I left such a beautiful image… sometimes it’s better to leave things as they are,” explains Benzema, who acknowledges his doubts about a comeback as a player. Not out of fear, but out of respect for his history with his boyhood club.

However, the door remains slightly open for a different role. Benzema says he would be ready to help OL in another capacity, possibly within the club’s structure. On the pitch, though, the message is clear: a return in boots seems highly unlikely.
