Will Medhi Benatia leave OM at the end of the season? His comments after the Champions Trophy have raised questions. After OM’s defeat to PSG in the Champions Trophy on penalties, Roberto De Zerbi and Medhi Benatia both praised their team’s strong performance despite the disappointment.

The Marseille coach felt his side deserved to win and admitted he was very moved in the dressing room. Benatia also highlighted the quality of the football and the ambition going forward, stressing that this kind of match proves the value of both the team and the coach.

An uncertain future in Marseille

However, he went on to make more worrying remarks about the future. Speaking about himself, he remained evasive, explaining that in Marseille it is difficult to look ahead and that he prefers to focus on the present. “In not too long, you’ll see other people in our place, and they’ll need time to work because in Marseille you never get time. It’s always adversity and criticism. That’s the truth. I don’t project myself at all, I just look at tomorrow.”

“The coming years, I don’t know. In Marseille, it’s hard to look ahead,” he added, insisting: “I’m speaking for myself. You mentioned the Nantes match earlier, there was everything to throw away. So as far as I’m concerned, I’m not planning ahead at all, quite the opposite.”
