A nightmare start for Olympique de Marseille. In their Ligue 1 opener, OM fell 1-0 at Rennes despite playing more than an hour with a man advantage — a scenario that left Roberto De Zerbi livid.
At his press conference, the Italian coach blasted his team’s mindset: “We had plenty of chances but didn’t score. What really angered me was the goal we conceded. We should never allow that. If we think goals just fall from the sky, then we’ve understood nothing.”
Pressure against Paris FC
The dressing room echoed the frustration. Timothy Weah, visibly upset, called the loss “unacceptable.” Speaking to Ligue 1+, he said: “When you’re a man up, you can’t concede that kind of goal. We lacked fight. The season is long, I still believe, but we need to question ourselves quickly.”
OM will be under pressure to react in their second Ligue 1 match, August 23 at the Vélodrome against Paris FC, where only a win will erase the sting of this frustrating defeat.
