Revived after their training camp in Marbella, OM secured a spectacular victory against OL (3-2) on Matchday 24 of Ligue 1. Trailing twice, the Marseille side turned the game around with character and intensity.

For Habib Beye, recently appointed to the bench, the win was fully deserved. The coach praised his team’s technical quality, pressing, and ability to prevent Lyon from building out cleanly, especially in the first half. Despite a difficult start, the squad remained focused and stuck to the game plan. A dramatic comeback “true to OM’s identity,” in his view.

A Hard-Fought Olympico Triumph Built on Character

“We’re very happy to win tonight, especially in an Olympico and in a stadium that’s always electric. Everything wasn’t perfect, but we showed the right ingredients to secure the victory through sheer determination. (…) Confidence restored? Yes. We felt we could wear them down, and that’s exactly what happened,” the Gabonese striker said to Ligue 1+.

Two players proved decisive: Igor Paixão, influential after coming on at halftime, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who scored twice. Beye paid glowing tribute to his forward, highlighting his love for the game, relentless work rate, and decisive impact, while also praising the unwavering support of the Marseille fans. Aubameyang, for his part, relished a mentally hard-earned win in a fiery Olympico, believing the Spanish training camp strengthened the team’s cohesion and intensity. A victory that restores OM’s confidence in the race for the top spots.
