Olympique de Marseille is set for a change of scenery this summer. As the return to training approaches, the Marseille club is reportedly planning to hold part of its summer preparation in Ivory Coast. It is a strong decision that marks the start of a new cycle for the squad.

OM will prepare far from Marseille. According to Foot Mercato, the club will hold a pre-season training camp on the African continent. The squad is first expected back at La Commanderie between July 5 and 7 for the initial physical tests and a gradual return to work.

This preparation will also be one of the first major appointments for Bruno Genesio, who is expected on the Marseille bench. The former Rennes and Lyon coach will need to quickly impose his methods, assess his squad and prepare an OM side eager to make a strong fresh start.

For Marseille, this choice is far from trivial. Traveling to Ivory Coast also sends a strong signal to an African fanbase that is deeply attached to the club. OM enjoys real popularity across the continent, and this camp could further strengthen that bond. Medical tests, physical work, a training camp and friendly matches: Marseille’s summer is set to quickly rise in intensity.
