A shiver is already running through the streets of Marseille: Zinédine Zidane will step onto the pitch at the Orange Vélodrome on October 10. The kid from La Castellane, hero of France’s 1998 triumph and Real Madrid icon, is finally coming home for a once-in-a-lifetime event.
Zizou never wore the OM shirt, never coached at the Vélodrome… but this time, he’ll be there for something truly special. Not an official match, but a celebration of the game that made him a legend.
The event is part of Universe Football, co-founded by Zidane’s nephew, with Zizou himself as ambassador. After making waves earlier this year with a surprise appearance in La Castellane, this return promises an even bigger show: trademark roulettes, silky touches, and unforgettable memories for Marseille fans.
Zidane never played for his hometown club
And it doesn’t stop there. Zidane could lace up his boots again for a gala match on October 25 at the Palais des Sports, followed by another spectacle on November 1 at Aix-en-Provence, on his own Z5 pitches.
Expect football legends, celebrity guests, comedy with Redouane Bougheraba, and freestyle magic from Sean Garnier. A true festival of the beautiful game.
For Marseille, this is more than just an event. It’s the return of the prodigal son – the boy from La Castellane who became king of world football.
